Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael
These three are the great archangels who continue to guide us to our true home in eternity. Michael defends us in the last days in the Book of the Revelation. Gabriel brought the good news of the coming birth of John the Baptist and Jesus in the Gospels. And Raphael can be found in the Book of Tobit. When was the last time you read the Bible?? Find time for God today!!

Who or what, really, governs your daily choices?
Psalm 16
Preserve me, God, I take refuge in you.
I say to the Lord: "You are my God.
My happiness lies in you alone."
He has put into my heart a marvelous love
for the faithful ones who dwell in his land.
Those who choose other gods increase their sorrows.
Never will I offer their offerings of blood.
Never will I take their name upon my lips.
O Lord, it is you who are my portion and cup;
it is you yourself who are my prize.
The lot marked out for me is my delight:
welcome indeed the heritage that falls to me!

Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross
From the September 14 Magnificat:
"The Exaltation of the Cross consists in the fact that 'the event of the cross and Resurrection abides and draws everything toward life' (CCC 1085). We exalt Christ's cross whenever we freely take it up, filled with the certainty that the ultimate meaning and fulfillment which we crave in life comes to us through this unending event. "With the cross we are freed from the restraint of the enemy and we clutch on to the strength of salvation' (Saint Theodorus the Estudite). For salvation means escape from our own inability. At the same time, 'we cannot produce or give any other fruit,' writes Saint Catherine of Siena, 'but the fruit we have taken from the tree of life.' No wonder that 'the sign of the cross makes kings of all those reborn in Christ' (Saint Leo the Great).
God's love is so great that he has given us Jesus who desires to give us great joy and peace. All we must do is open our hearts and receive, receive, receive!! Does God come first in YOUR life??

God's Ways are Not Our Ways!!
Isaiah 55: 8-9
"My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. As high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways above your ways and my thoughts above your thoughts."
Rom 11: 34
"For who has known the mind of the Lord or who has been his counselor?"
"My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. As high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways above your ways and my thoughts above your thoughts."
Rom 11: 34
"For who has known the mind of the Lord or who has been his counselor?"
Wis 9:13
"What man knows God's counsel, or who can conceive what our Lord intends?
Our knowledge is so limited compared to God, our creator and redeemer. One can think of the limited knowledge of an infant compared to the knowledge of one who has been open to learning and growth in wisdom. The knowledge a child in 8th grade has compared to a child in pre-school. The knowledge a physicist has compared to the knowledge of a history teacher. The knowledge a great golfer has compared to the knowledge of a great baseball player. Our knowledge is limited where God's knowledge is not. We are finite creatures who live in time and space. Our God is infinite and lives outside time and space which boggles our minds and imaginations!

Pride
"Pride sets subtle snares. Whenever we imagine that we are in control of life - our own or someone elses's - we have fallen prey to the ancient whisper in the Garden: 'You shall become like gods.' " From September Magnificat, p130
Sirach 10: 7, 12-13a, 15-16
"Odious to the Lord and to men is arrogance, and the sin of oppression they both hate. The beginning of pride is man's stubbornness in withdrawing his heart from his Maker; for pride is the reservoir of sin, a source which runs over with vice. The roots of the proud God plucks up, to plant the humble in their place: He breaks down their stem to the level of the ground, then digs their roots from the earth."
