St. Pius V, pray for us!!

St. Pius V, Pope - Saints & Angels - Catholic Online

Easter: Day Twenty-Six, Friday April 30, 2010

John 14: 1-6
"Jesus said to his disciples: 'Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. Where I am going you know the way.' Thomas said to him, 'Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?' Jesus said to him, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"

Jesus is present within each of us along with the Father and the Holy Spirit. The Trinitarian love is a constant. If we are too busy with exterior stuff, we will never discover the treasure found within us.
God bless!!

St. Catherine of Siena, Doctor of the Church - April 29, 2010

St. Catherine of Siena, pray for us!!

St. Catherine of SienaDoctor of the Church - Saints & Angels - Catholic Online

Easter: Day Twenty-Five, Thursday April 29, 2010

"I am who am; you are she who is not." (God to Saint Catherine of Siena)
"When you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you." (Matthew 6:6-8)
Unless God wills our existence, we do not exist. Unless God desires our presence, we are not present. But God does desire that we exist. God does desire our presence. Pure Love which is God cannot not desire our existence. We are created by pure love and it is His desire that we live in pure love. We are known by our fruits. If we live in pure love, we exude that love in our daily lives. Do you?
God bless!!

Easter: Day Twenty-Four, Wednesday April 28, 2010

"Fill our emptiness with the blessing of the eucharist, the foretaste of eternal joy." (The Liturgy of the Hours)
O Sweet Jesus, it is for you that we yearn. It the lack of you that causes us to seek and search. Come, sweet Jesus, into our hearts. Make us know your presence that we might worship and adore you all the days of our lives that when we die we may live with you for all of eternity. Amen
God bless!!

Easter: Day Twenty-Three, Tuesday April 27, 2010

Do you believe in God? Do you really believe in God? Do you feel His presence in your life? Do you spend time with Him each day thanking Him for all he has done for you? for all He has given to you? Do you really believe that God exists or not? Is He absent from your life? Is He just an afterthought? Is He just a possibility and not an absolute? Did you bring yourself into existence? Did your parents? And who brought all these generations into existence? Who gave you the life you live? And what would happen to the life you live if you were to set apart a time and space each day for prayer and thanksgiving to your creator? Try it! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain - eternal life!!
God bless!!

Easter: Day Twenty-Two, Monday April 26, 2010

Part of Today's Gospel:
John 10
"So Jesus said again, "Amen, amen, I say to you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture. A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly."

Jesus is the way, the only way. Follow him wherever he may lead you!

Fr. Alfred Delp, S.J.
"There are two tests by which we can tell whether the impulse moving us is genuine or not - the test of service and the test of proclamation of truth... First, the warning voice. It reminds us of what we owe to our own integrity and helps us avoid becoming puffed up with pride and self-sufficiency... The second test - he it is. Affirmation, testimony, praise of the Lord..."
God bless!!

Easter: Day Twenty-One, Fourth Sunday in Easter April 25, 2010

Good Shepherd Sunday
John 10: 27-30
"Jesus said: 'My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can take them out of the Father's hand. The Father and I are one.'"

We humans tend to look for everything outside of ourselves and neglect the great treasure found within - the Trinitarian love of God. If we were to dwell on this love we would learn what true love really is. Instead we use and manipulate each other and call that true love. True love comes from the source, God. True love is self-less, has no ego, no needs, no wants. True love desires the other and seeks to satisfy the other's ego, needs, and wants. True love is willing to sacrifice for the other, to deny itself that the other's needs are met. True love is only found by walking the way of the cross - difficult if not impossible for us humans. But nothing is impossible for God. He has chosen us from the beginning. He desires to give us the gift of grace. We need only open our hearts to receive. He calls us to turn our lives and wills over to Him. We need only have the desire to give up our self will. But we are blind, deaf, and dumb. We seek to be mini gods and listen only to the many voices outside of us that lead us down a dark and dreary road We think and believe that eventually it will all make sense and we will find what we seek. But we are looking in all the wrong places. Our hearts yearn for the presence of God in our lives and our hearts will never be truly satisfied until we open them to this presence and discover His perfect love. Seek God first and all else will fall into place. Jesus said, "Deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow me."
God bless!!

Easter: Day Twenty, Saturday April 24, 2010

From the Cloud of Unknowing
"God's word, written or spoken, is like a mirror. Reason is your spiritual eye and conscience your spiritual reflection. and just as you use a mirror to detect a blemish in your physical appearance - and without a mirror or someone to tell you where the blemish is you would not discover it - so it is spiritually. Without reading or hearing God's word, a man who is spiritually blind on account of habitual sin is simply unable to see the foul stain on his conscience."

We are all sinners. We are so quick to see the sin in another and are blind to the sin in ourselves. But it's when we discover our own sin that we are empowered to do something about it. And when we do something about it we discover the peace that Jesus longs to give us.
God bless!!

Easter: Day Nineteen, Friday April 23, 2010

The Bread of Life Discourse
Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink his Blood,  you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my Blood is true drink. Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever." (John 5: 52-59) Today's Gospel reading.

Words of St. Hilary
"We believe that the Word became flesh and that we receive his flesh in the Lord's Supper. How then can we fail to believe that he really dwells within us? When he became man, he actually clothed himself in our flesh, uniting it to himself for ever. In the sacrament of his body he actually gives us his own flesh, which he has united too his divinity. This is why we are all one, because the Father is in Christ, and Christ is in us. He is in us through his flesh and we are in him. With him we form a unity which is in God."

The time we spend with Jesus and the time when we consume the most Blessed Eucharist are like the most precious of jewels in the day. We gain a peace beyond our understanding and we come to see the face of Our Lord.
God bless!!

Easter: Day Eighteen, Thursday April 22, 2010

God is love, pure love. He desires to teach us. Do we desire to learn?
"Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me (Jesus)...I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world." (John 6)
God bless!

Easter: Day Seventeen, Wednesday April 21, 2010

From the Magnificat:
"God is mystery. The maker of the universe dwells in light inaccessible, so bright that it blinds the probing eye, the questioning mind. Yet this awesome God has taken on a human face and a human name in Jesus. He is the Son of the Father and the Word made flesh, the mystery hidden in God for all ages."

Isaiah 55: 8-9
"My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. As high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways above your ways and my thoughts above your thoughts."

God bless!!

Easter: Day Sixteen, Tuesday April 20, 2010

It is by the bread of life that we live. Jesus gave us his body and blood as food that our souls might be sustained. This heavenly food gives us the strength and grace to truly live our lives with great love and great sacrifice. We are called to be God's children now and for all eternity. Be fed by the Bread of Life, the sacrament of Holy Eucharist. For if you eat his body and drink his blood you shall have life in you, everlasting life.
God bless!!

Easter: Day Fourteen, Third Sunday in Easter April 18, 2010

At the last Supper, Jesus said to serve others as He has served us. In the Our Father, we say "Father forgive us as we forgive others." The greatest philosophers have taught that we need to know ourselves. But today we tend to focus more on the sins of others instead of our own sins or that others must meet our needs and not about meeting the needs of others. We get caught up in a culture of "me first". And we see the results of that culture - darkness and death. We ourselves are caught up in a darkness that entraps us. We ourselves are caught up in the death of relationships. Prayer will bring the light and the truth. The best prayer of all is "Thank you, God, for all that you have done for me!"
God bless!

Easter: Day Nine, Tuesday April 13, 2010

"Just as you know not how the breath of life fashions the human frame in the mother's womb so you know not the work of God which he is accomplishing in the universe." (Eccl 11: 5)
There is so much more that we do not know than what we do know. Believe!!

Easter: Day Eight, Monday April 12, 2010

In the Our Father we say:
"...Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us."

Father, forgive us our sins, our faults, our selfishness as we forgive those you put into our lives this day.
God bless!!

Easter: Day Seven, Divine Mercy Sunday, Second Sunday of Easter

In the story of the Prodigal Son, the son has a thought. "I can return to my father's house as a servant and live better than I am living now." He followed through on that thought and returned to his father's house. But he could have also gone the other way and decided he was too proud to live as a servant in his father's house so he would rather die than do that.

We are all prodigal sons and daughters. Everyone of us will have this thought about returning to our Father's house and we will act on it or not. God's call to us is a whisper of love. The world's call to us is the siren of the gods which caused the sailors to crash on the rocks. We often prefer the sirens to the whispers. The world is loud and are minds are busy with it. Take time to listen to the whisper and know God's great love for you!
God bless!!

Easter: Day Three, April 7, 2010

When we truly examine ourselves we discover not only the sin in our lives, but the good and wonder of who we are. We humans tend to examine the lives of all those around us; those whose lives interact with us throughout the course of a day. But we rarely spend time in reflection on our own lives. This reflection is gift! When we thoroughly tap the mystery of who we are and why we are here, we then live full and fruitful lives. We do this through prayer! It is all gift! Gift from a God, creator and redeemer, who truly loves us!!
God bless!!

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

Easter: Day two, Tuesday April 6, 2010

1 John 4: 7-12
Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God. Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love. In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him. In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another. No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us.

Remember: it's easy to love those who love you. Today try loving those who do not love you.
God bless!!

Easter: Day one, Monday April 5, 2010

And the Easter Season continues for the next fifty days - until Pentecost Sunday. Put God first and all will work out well. Suffer for a little bit of time, so you can rise with Jesus into everlasting life. Or suffer for all time and live in darkness. It is only by opening our hearts to God's present and allowing Him to help us that life begins to take on meaning. We truly are dependent creatures who can trust in a loving God to lead us to salvation!
God bless!!

Triduum: Holy Saturday April 3, 2010

Humans have so much "in common with the stones of the earth...existence, life with the trees and plants, sense with animals, and reason with angels." (Fr. John Tauler, O.P. (1361)
We humans because we have reason get caught up with the thinking of the world because its noise and beliefs are so loud and constant. It is when we take time in quiet each day, morning and night, that we discover the truth, the answers we need to live a full and holy life. Jesus taught us simply that night before he died. He said that he came to serve, not to be served. If we believed this simple ideal then husbands would serve their wives and wives would serve their husbands and by these examples children would serve their parents so parents would desire to serve their children. A life of service and love makes us whole and complete. Otherwise we always seem to feel that something is missing and we then look for that missing piece in all the wrong places. So this day before the glory of the risen Christ, take time to pray in silence and solitude and take time to serve others well!
God bless!!

Happy Birthday, Calvin!!!

Calvin turns 11 today! Happy Day!!

Calvin at age 1!! Love you!!

Triduum: Good Friday April 2, 2010

We are living in a world that lives by the moral code that if you believe something to be right, it is. Another name for that is "moral relativism." We are daily bombarded with information, decisions, feelings, justifications, etc from outside forces that form us and move us as the ocean forms and moves all that it touches on its borders. But inside each one of us is a force that is more powerful than the world. We must agree to open ourselves to its presence. God lives! God loves!! He desires only good for us. But we in our mindless subjection to the forces of the world find ourselves thrown into the depths of despair or anger or resentment or envy or any other dark and lonely ideal that comes from believing in the fantasies of the world. We want what we want and are unhappy if we don't get it whether it's we ourselves striving for it or our dependence on another to give it to us. It is sad to see when all we need is the truth to set us free from the demands of the world. Open your hearts and find true freedom which comes only from your creator's great love for you!! And in finding this freedom we find the peace that is beyond our understanding and we walk the way of justice and truth. He dies on the cross today! Is there any love greater? For He did not die because you and I are perfect! He died because we are sinners and He desires to bring us all to Heaven.
God bless!!

Triduum: Holy Thursday, April 1, 2010

It seems that some of us are drawn to sinners and some of us are drawn to saints. Our lives are changed by the choices we make. In companionship with sinners we can choose to follow their ways or reject them. In companionship with saints we can choose to follow their ways or reject them. Though we are all sinners we are all called to be holy as Our Heavenly Father is holy. This is what Jesus teaches us. Today choose to follow those who seek a life of holiness and reject Satan and all his lies!
God bless!!
