St. Germaine Cousin, pray for us!!
From Ascent, Book I, Chapter 3, St. John of the Cross -
It is not the things of this world that either occupy the soul or cause it harm, since they enter it not, but rather the will and desire for them, for it is these that dwell within it.
We seek to be poor, to be empty, not for the sake of emptiness, but so that we can be filled with God.
(Taken from the June Magnificat, pgs 186-187)
...Our union with Christ radically changes the way we deal with injustice and evil in our life. We are to turn the other cheek, walk the extra mile, and "offer no resistance to one who is evil." Not only is this possible - for the Christian touched by god's mercy it is the only reasonable way to face life.
God bless!!
